CPP20521 - Certificate II in Fire Protection Inspection and Testing

Overview

This is a qualification for fire protection technicians responsible for non-trade installation and regular servicing of fire protection equipment and systems. Fire protection technicians may specialise in activities relating to certain groups of equipment or systems, such as:

 

  • inspecting and testing fire protection equipment in the field;
  • maintaining, testing and refilling extinguishers in the workshop;
  • inspecting, testing and maintaining pre-engineered fire-suppression systems;
  • inspecting and testing water-based fire-suppression systems;
  • inspecting, testing and maintaining gaseous fire-suppression systems;
  • inspecting, testing and maintaining passive fire and smoke containment products and systems;
  • inspecting and testing fire detection and warning systems; and
  • recovering, reclaiming, filling and storing scheduled gaseous fire-extinguishing agents.

 

 

Entry Requirements

To be eligible to enroll into this course, students must demonstrate the following:

 

  • be at least 18 years old at the time of enrolment;
  • currently employed in the industry/occupation;
  • have access to resources in the workplace to enable the training and assessment requirements of the qualification; and
  • have work place approval from their employer (form provided by FPA Australia on enrolment enquiry).

 

It is recommended that students are able to demonstrate Language, Literacy and Numeracy Skills equivalent to Level 3 of the Australian Core Skills Framework (ACSF).

 

 

Duration & Structure

The qualification is delivered via a web-based induction session, online learning activities, self-paced study including completion of a Remote Video Practical Assessment, and supported by qualified Trainers and Assessors.

 

The qualification is generally completed in approximately 6 - 12 months.

 

For a student to be awarded this CPP20511 Certificate II in Fire Protection Inspection and Testing qualification, they must successfully complete 13 units of competency (7 core and 6 elective units).

 

Statement of Attainment will be issued to students who partially complete the Certificate.
