Fire Protection Maintenance Training

Fire Protection Association Australia (FPA Australia) is Australia's major technical and educational fire safety organisation aiming to achieve continual improvement in fire safety through active membership and a range of related activities.

FPA Australia is a national VET regulated (NVR) registered training organisation (RTO) that provides training and assessment services for nationally recognised units of competency from the following qualifications:

CPP20511 Certificate II in Fire Protection Inspection & Testing for fire protection technicians responsible for non-trade installation and regular servicing of fire protection equipment and systems.

CPP30811 Certificate III in Fire Protection Inspection & Testing for fire protection technicians responsible for installation, commissioning and complex servicing of fire protection systems, or supervision of fire protection services work.

Our qualifications meet the needs of:

  • Many of the Queensland Building & Construction Commission (QBCC) Fire Occupational Licences, and
  • The Ozone Depleting Substances (ODS) and Synthetic Greenhouse Gases (SGG) Extinguishing Agents Handling Licences.

Our Fire Protection Maintenance product range is delivered as self-study units, where each student enrols and receives materials to work through in their own time and pace. Once self study has taken place students can then enrol in one of the regular Assessment Sessions in order to be assessed.

Assessment Sessions are regularly held in most capital cities and some major towns around Australia, and those who are interested can select to either enrol directly into the next available session or join a waiting list.

Specific face to face training customised for the participants can be provided for technicians with little or no experience.  Please contact the Training and Education Department on 03 8892 3182 to discuss your requirements.

FPA Australia also administers the Fire Protection Accreditation Scheme (FPAS) which recognises qualified and competent fire protection technicians working in the test and inspect fields. Students who achieve competence in units from the new CPP20511 and CPP30811 will be well on the way to gaining accreditation in this Scheme.
