Vale Lindsay Essex

Posted on : Friday, 21 June 2019

Fire Protection Association Australia (FPA Australia) wishes to express its condolences to the family, friends and colleagues of pioneering sprinkler fitting trainer Lindsay Essex, who passed away earlier this week.

Lindsay has been a critical part of the fire protection training community over the last four decades. In the early 1980s Lindsay established the first sprinkler fitting apprenticeship available in Australia at Randwick TAFE in NSW. Throughout the following decades, Lindsay honed the skills of thousands of students into well-rounded and qualified tradespeople.

The legacy of the school Lindsay founded has played, and continues to play, an important part in keeping millions of Australians protected from fire. Lindsay was one of the most important and respected individuals in the fire protection industry and among the sprinkler fitter fraternity.

He will always be remembered as a proud and passionate educator and a true pioneer of fire protection education in Australia.
