Sprinkler standard amendment released for public comment

Amendment 2 to AS 2118.1, Automatic fire sprinkler systems - General systems has been released for public comment, closing Tuesday 10 September.

 

This amendment includes the following:

 

  • Clarification and guidance on types of pre-action systems including 'non-interlock' pre-action as a system type.
  • Global changes in relation to sprinkler thermal sensitivity and response types.
  • Clarification of requirements for sprinkler protection of balconies.
  • Inclusion of requirements for accessibility and clearances of control assemblies.
  • New design requirements for incidental residential storage for Class 2 & 3 buildings.
  • Inclusion of design requirements for protection of storage in high hazard.
