The monthly trend unemployment rate has decreased by 0.2% over the past 12 months to 5.5% in September 2017, according to revised ABS data. The monthly trend unemployment rate for both males and females dropped to 5.5%, meaning no gap in unemployment rates between genders. Full-time employment grew by 16,000 in September while part-time employment increased by 8,000.

ACCC puts focus on small business

The first six-monthly Small Business in Focus Report (#14) for 2017 has been released by the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC). Based on a revised methodology of reporting its statistical data, the ABCC indicates a decline in reports and enquiries made by small business compared to the previous six months.
