R U OK? Add yourself to your routine service schedule

Posted on : Thursday, 9 September 2021

Routine servicing and maintenance of fire safety systems is important for community well-being.

But what about your own?

Why don't you add yourself and your team to your 'routine service' schedule?

R U OK Day - Thursday, 9 September, 2021 - is an opportunity to start a dialogue with your friends, family, and team about mental health.

On this day, it's a good idea to check on your own mental well-being and that of those closest to you.

Take some time to reconnect and get in touch with someone who needs your support.

But don't limit yourself to one day of the year - why not make this part of your own 'routine service' schedule?

If you need help, or you know someone who does, reach out - a conversation can save a life.

If you don't know how to start that conversation, the following four steps might help:

  1. Ask "R U OK?"

  2. Listen with an open mind

  3. Encourage action

  4. Check in

To see this in action, check out ALEC's guide to asking R U OK? at Work or have a look at one of R U OK?'s posters.

Tradies might find this page useful, too!

Stay connected, give support, and make asking "are you OK?" part of your routine.
