VBA fire protection registration deadline approaching
Posted on : Friday, 5 March 2021
The Victorian Building Authority (VBA) has advised that
practitioners must be licensed/registered under its new restricted
classes for the routine servicing of fire protection equipment by
31 July, 2021.
After this date, any unregistered or unlicensed practitioners
carrying out this work will be subject to VBA enforcement
action.
This is because the routine servicing of fire protection
equipment is considered plumbing work that must be carried out by
an appropriately qualified practitioner.
More information and material regarding whether you need to
apply for routine servicing restricted classes is available
here and practitioners can
apply here for registration.
FPA Australia is providing training for practitioners who wish
to obtain registration - click

These training and assessment pathways have been launched to
help the fire protection industry to comply with the VBA
requirements.
