Plumbing, sprinkler fitting & design quals review reaches final stage

Posted on : Wednesday, 3 July 2019

A review of plumbing, sprinkler fitting and fire systems design qualifications underway since 2017 is now reaching its final stages, and drafts of the revised qualifications have been released.

The review has been undertaken on behalf of the Construction IRC by Artibus Innovation, in conjunction with a Technical Advisory Group, of which Fire Protection Association Australia (FPA Australia) is a member.

The three fire protection-related qualifications under review are:

  • CPC32813 Certificate III in Fire Protection;
  • CPC50509 Diploma of Fire Systems Design; and
  • CPC32412 Certificate III in Plumbing.

As part of the review, your Association has championed the interests of the fire protection industry and community safety. In particular, FPA Australia has successfully advocated for:

  • Alignment of qualifications with the requirements of state regulators;
  • Combining related units to reduce duplications; and
  • Enhancing knowledge of fire protection systems.

Draft qualification templates and draft units of competency are available to download below, along with a link to provide feedback. The feedback period closes Tuesday 16 July.
