Changes to Employment-Related Thresholds 2017

The following summarises a number of monetary thresholds that have come into effect from 1stJuly 2017

 

Minimum modern award increases: rates increased by 3.3%.

 

Federal minimum wage (excluding statutory superannuation): increased to $694.90 per week, or $18.29 per hour.

 

High income threshold: increased to $142,000 (from $138,900).

  • Section s. 382 (b) (iii) - Fair Work Act 2009 (Cth) and Fair Work Regulations 2009 - reg. 3.05.

 

Unfair dismissal compensation limit: increased to $71,000 (from $69,450).

  • Section s. 392 (6) -Fair Work Act 2009(Cth) andFair Work Regulations 2009- reg. 3.06 - for any period of employment with the employer during the 26 weeks immediately before the dismissal.
