New Commissioner Fire and Rescue NSW

Fire Protection Association Australia (FPA Australia)
congratulates Paul Baxter on his appointment as the new
Commissioner of Fire and Rescue NSW.
NSW Minister for Emergency Services the Hon. David Elliott,
announced the appointment saying Mr Baxter, currently the National
Commander and CEO of the New Zealand Fire Service and President and
Board Chair of the Australasian Fire & Emergency Service
Authorities Council, was a highly qualified and experienced
emergency services professional.
Mr Baxter replaces outgoing Commissioner Greg Mullins after he
stepped down last year. He will start work in March or early April
and Deputy Commissioner Jim Hamilton will be Acting Commissioner in
the interim.
"The position of Commissioner Fire and Rescue NSW is one of the
most important jobs in the state," said FPA Australia CEO Scott
Williams.
"We wish Mr Baxter all the best on the appointment and for the
future. FPA Australia looks forward to working with him on
important issues that will deliver improved fire safety outcomes
for the people of NSW, including the proposed changes to fire
safety regulations currently being considered by the NSW
Government."
