The control and management of smoke within a building during a fire is very important for the life safety of occupants, while they are evacuating from a building. These systems form part of a buildings' smoke hazard management system, which is part of the mechanical services. These systems are, or form part of, a life safety measure that is mandatory for many vertically or horizontally large buildings.

These systems assist with minimising an occupant's exposure to the effects of a fire while they are evacuating the building. Therefore, it is essential that these purge, pressurisation and exhaust systems operate and perform correctly, when required.

This webinar is aimed at improving your understanding of the key operational and performance requirements/criteria of these purge, pressurisation and exhaust systems.

If you design, install, certify, routinely service or assess the operation and performance of pressurisation of required Air Purge, Zone Pressurisation or Hot Layer Smoke Control systems you will find this webinar very informative.

The Australian Standard for routine service of fire protection systems and equipment, AS 1851 prescribes the methodology and activities used to maintain the reliability of fire protection systems and equipment; such that they continue to meet the requirements of the approved design and are likely to do so until the next scheduled activity.

AS 1851 and its scheduled service activities are extensively used throughout Australia, except where the use of AS 1851 is not mandatory.

As a part of FPA Australia continuing objective to provide more information and education material to the industry throughout all parts of Australia, FPA Australia is starting a trial of providing training webinars based on the AS 1851 routine service methodologies and activities.

This technical/training webinar is predominately based on the routine service activities for the monthly routine service of Fire Detection and Alarm Systems.

The ability of the fire brigade to carry out fire-fighting, search and rescue activities and occupants to fight a fire in its initial growth stage, if they choose to do so, could be critical to the life safety of occupants. To enable fire fighters or occupants to undertake these activities specific & required equipment, operational and system performance needs to be provided.

To provide this, the system needs to be correctly designed, installed and commissioned so that it can be verified as 'fit for purpose' and compliant. To do this there are several key aspects throughout the process that need to be carefully considered, implemented and verified.

This webinar is also partly aimed at improving your understanding of the key operation and performance requirements/criteria of these systems.

If you design, install or commission fire hydrant or fire hose reel systems or simply wish to obtain a better understanding of these systems, you will find this webinar very informative.

A building occupant warning system (BOWS) is critical to alert occupants of a fire event so that they can commence evacuation of the building. A BOWS consists of equipment and devices that provide audible and visual alarms to occupants of a building, upon the receipt of a fire alarm signal from a fire detection system or device or manual activation. Emergency warning systems and sound systems for emergency purposes are also BOWS.

With the release of the NCC 2019 referenced 2018 edition of AS 1670.1 (Fire Detection, warning, control and intercom systems - System design, installation and commissioning - Part 1 Fire), the Deemed to Satisfy (DtS) requirements of Building Occupant Warning Systems (Clause 3.22) have changed.

Do you know if the Emergency Warning System or Building Occupant Warning System equipment you are purchasing, installing, approving or certifying is compliant?
