Standards Australia Committees
Standards Australia is the organisation which develops and
publishes Australian Standards and its sister organisation SAI
Global is the distributor of the standards. Standards are developed
through Standards Australia Committees which are set up as required
for specific areas.
The Standards Australia Committees receive input from people
with knowledge and expertise in the relevant area. This includes
representatives from FPA Australia's Technical Advisory
Committees.
The TACs (with the exception of TAC/T - Training) mirror the
Standards Australia Fire Protection (FP) Committees. These
Standards Australia Committees produce the Australian Standards for
the fire protection industry. By having a TAC to mirror each FP
committee, FPA Australia is well positioned to represent the
interests of its members on these committees.
FPA Australia representatives to Standards Australia Committees
are nominated from the relevant TACs in accordance with the
procedures outlined in Appendix C of the Rules for the operation of
Technical Advisory Committees and Special Interest Groups.
In the area of fire protection, Standards Australia currently
has the following committees. In most cases, FPA Australia has
equivalent Technical Committees and/or Special Interest Groups:

development, with many stages which can include drafting, public
