Executive Officer Ozone Protection

A contract position (currently to 31 October 2018 with the potential for extension) in a full-time capacity has arisen for an Executive Officer - Ozone Protection at our Blackburn North national office.

 

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer of FPA Australia, the purpose of this role is to support the FPA Australia fulfil its responsibilities as the Fire Protection Industry (ODS & SGG) Board. The Board has been appointed by the Australian Government to manage those parts of the Ozone Protection and Synthetic Greenhouse Gas Management Act, 1989 (the Act) and regulations relating to the fire protection industry.

 

Responsibilities include

 

  1. Provide executive support for the Fire Protection Industry (ODS & SGG) Board and represent the Board when required to do so.
  2. Provide timely and current information to the Board. 
  3. Manage the fire protection parts of the regulations including the granting of licences, permits and authorities.
  4. Maintain an effective working relationship with the relevant sections of the Australian Government.
  5. Maintain and implement an appropriate long-term strategic plan to effectively meet the Board's obligations under the agreement with the Australian Government.
  6. Develop, implement and review relevant good practice guide and policies. 
  7. Develop educational and information materials across all relevant areas of the fire protection industry including preparing a quarterly newsletter GasBag.
  8. Conduct research as required by the Australian Government. 
  9. Provide reports as required to the Australian Government. 
  10. Other duties as directed by the Chief Executive Officer, FPA Australia.

 

Desirable:

  1. Knowledge of fire protection systems and equipment preferably those that use ozone depleting and synthetic greenhouse extinguishing agents would be highly regarded
  2. Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline

 

To be considered for this role the successful candidate will be versatile and have the ability to manage their day to meet the requirements of the position.

  3. Demonstrated literacy, numeracy, accuracy and attention to detail 
  4. Proven experience using information and technology 
  5. Sound oral and written communication skills
