About the Service Awards


FPA Australia are offering Service Awards in recognition of the efforts of members who have served and represented the industry with FPA Australia. Service awards are available for 20, 30 and 40 years of service.

Who is Eligible

If you have diligently contributed to the Association over a period of twenty years or more, you are eligible to apply for a service award. Diligent service can include:


  • Serving on FPA Australia's Board


  • Participation on a relevant FPA Australia committee, e.g. State or Technical Committee


  • Representing FPA Australia on committees such as Standards Australia or the Australian Building Codes Board.

FPA Australia's Service Awards are open for application from


  • Persons who hold corporate membership for their business


  • Employees of corporate members


  • Persons who hold a personal level of membership


  • Persons associated with an organisational membership.

FPA Australia was formed in January 1997 from the merger of the Australian Fire Protection Association (AFPA) and the Fire Protection Industry Association Australia (FPIAA). As a result, years of service will be based on contribution through a combination of membership with these organisations.

Please complete all sections of the Application Form.

The application form may be submitted in hard copy format or electronically, as outlined in the document. Please note that incomplete forms will not be accepted.

Key Dates

Service Award applications will be accepted at any time throughout the year. All applications will be acknowledged within seven days of receipt and a formal response will be made within forty-five days.

Meritorious and Honorary Life Member Awards

While the 20, 30 and 40 Year Service Awards recognise personal contributions over a substantial length of time, FPA Australia will also recognise those members who make a standout contribution.


Those members who have received an Honorary Life Membership are eligible to apply for an Honorary Life Member Award. Members who have made a contribution in some way that requires special acknowledgement may be nominated for a Meritorious Award. Meritorious Awards are at the discretion of the Board of Directors and may be made for one or more of the following reasons: 


Contribution to a technical committee, special interest group, state divisional committee or the board of directors over a reasonable period of timeInvolvement in a project relating to the fire protection industry where a major personal contribution has been made, representation of the Association at a local, state, federal or international level in pursuit of the goals of the Association.

The Meritorious Service Award may be awarded to members or non-members and does not depend on length of service. A maximum of two may be made in any calendar year.
