Expression of interest - FPA Australia Trainer & Assessor

6 September 2010

FPA Australia is embarking on a new venture and we’re looking for interested partners to join us on this journey. As a registered training organisation, FPA Australia is nationally recognised to deliver and assess PRM20406 Certificate II and PRM30406 Certificate III in Asset Maintenance (Fire Protection Equipment). Traditionally our delivery is self-paced learning, where the student negotiates an assessment fee with an external FPA Australia registered Workplace Assessor when they are prepared for assessment.

We are looking to trial another training and assessment model to add to our services, and our goal is to deliver public workshops in every state that can meet the needs of our members and industry, and provide qualifications and units of competency towards licencing needs.

Now we are calling for Expressions of Interest from those who would be interested in contracting to deliver and/or assess units of competency on behalf of FPA Australia. These units will initially be from the PRM20406 Certificate II in Asset Maintenance (Fire Protection Equipment), but will later include units from the PRM30406 Certificate III in Asset Maintenance (Fire Protection Equipment).

Interested parties must have at least 5 years industry experience, hold a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (or equivalent), and the Asset Maintenance qualification. To learn more or request an Expression of Interest Submission form please contact Lauren St.Clair or Rebecca Gardam at training@fpaa.com.au.

A day of great sadness

17 June 2010

FPA Australia is deeply saddened at the passing of Andrew Wilson, the son of Alan Wilson from Alan Wilson Insurance Brokers, who died in a light plane crash in Sydney on Tuesday.

Andrew has been hailed a hero for his actions moments before his twin-engine light aircraft crash-landed on a suburban Sydney street – deliberately missing a group of school children on their way to a nearby school.

Andrew’s father, Alan, and his family are close friends to many of us at FPA Australia and have developed a close relationship with many members of FPA Australia over a long period of time, and are respected figures throughout the fire protection industry, and the general insurance industry.

On behalf of all FPA Australia Members, Board of Directors and Staff, we offer Alan Wilson and his family our deepest condolences and our thoughts are with them at this sad time.
